2014 Pagani Huayra is powered by a V12 engine sourced from Mercedes’ AMG performance division. It features a Pagani-exclusive twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter unit designed for compliance with European and U.S. emissions standards. Two versions will be offered: a “base” engine with 690-700 horsepower and a Sport edition with 730.
Though Pagani hasn’t yet released official numbers, Car and Driver estimates 0-60 mph in 3 seconds flat, 0-100 at 6.2 seconds, and standing quarter-mile runs of 10.8 seconds. Top speed is in the vicinity of 230 mph, versus close to 270 for the Bugatti Veyron.
Only one transmission is offered for the 2014 Pagani Huayra: a lightweight 7-speed automated manual developed and supplied by UK racing-gearbox specialist XTRAC. It’s similar to the unit used in the penultimate Zonda R model.
Pagani Huayra body size is 4605mm × 2036mm × 1169mm, wheelbase 2795mm, the 2014 Pagani Huayra has dramatic gullwing doors, a design only seen on a handful of cars throughout automotive history.
Per Italian supercar tradition, the 2014 Pagani Huayra rides a 4-wheel independent suspension with classic double wishbones and coil springs at each corner, plus front and rear antiroll bars. The wishbones are forged from aviation-grade aluminum for high strength with low weight, and work through racecar-style pushrod shock absorbers with automatic front-height adjustment. Brakes are the expected jumbo 4-wheel discs–15-inch diameter all around–with ABS and an integrated traction-control system, but with rotors made of advanced carbon-ceramic material instead of steel to provide better heat dissipation and durability in repeated high-speed stops.
