Chevrolet recently announced the 2013 Corvette ZR1 will act as a safety car in this year’s Indianapolis 500 event.This is also the No. 23 Chevrolet to participate in the competition, but also the 11th Corvette to play the role of the safety car.

2013 Corvette ZR1 has a 638-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 supercharged engine, and enough performance to take on the Indianapolis 500 pace car. And, in order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Corvette, Chevrolet introduced the production version of the Corvette ZR1 60th anniversary package, including body painting, launched earlier this year, Arctic white and pearl blue color.

The Indianapolis 500 will be officially opened at 12 o’clock noon U.S. time May 27.

This car is built to Camaro Z-28 based. In power, using a 6.0L LSX V8 engine and a 91 mm turbocharger that is produced by a Turbonetics, and the other with a diameter of 6 feet in the cold to provide adequate cooling. After a series of modifications, the car has 1,400 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1219Nm.

The car equipped with a diameter of 355 mm rotors with 6 piston brake calipers to provide adequate stopping power. Inside, use the full red interior color, this color will stimulate the desire of the driver’s racing. At the same time for safety, the car also installed anti-roll steel beam.

The car will be all hand-built, production time up to 3800 hours. Such a hand-built Camaro price is not cheap of course, expected to sell for 320,000 dollars.
